J3L manufactures and develops high-end metal parts for the luxury leather goods industry. These parts are then mounted on accessories such as handbags, shoes, belts... A demanding sector, which does not tolerate production defects or anomalies.
Against this backdrop, J3L's quality management team wanted to guarantee the quality of every part, from the design phase to the end of the production line, at each of its 4 sites in France and Portugal. The Quality Manager then sought a reliable, automated solution to structure the problem-solving and root-cause analysis process.
J3L then approached Axsens, which had developed ProWhy, an innovative collaborative problem-solving tool, in partnership with ENIT (Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Tarbes).

Maemouna Dia, an Axsens consultant specializing in ProWhy, took on J3L's request to study the extent to which this tool could meet the company's specific needs.
" They particularly appreciated the fact that ProWhy became the living memory of problem-solving throughout the company. The support we offer, from deployment through to after-sales technical issues, was also crucial," said Maemouna Dia.
After a diagnostic phase, the Axsens technical team configured and customized the ProWhy tool for J3L, then installed it on the group's server, and finally deployed it on all production sites.
Axsens then helped employees to get to grips with the tool, training 23 employees working for the Quality and Methods departments, as well as for the Design Office and Production. This support phase highlighted the fact that problem solving was not necessarily applied by all departments, and that the bulk of problem solving was carried out by the Quality department. This training phase therefore brought everyone up to speed with the tools and methods, so that each department could use them afterwards.
During the deployment of the ProWhy tool in 2020, J3L was pleased to announce its acquisition by a leading luxury fashion brand. As its integration into the organization gets underway, J3L expects its process to become a benchmark for the entire group.
Axsens is proud to have supported J3L in improving its problem-solving process, and wishes it every success in this new chapter of its growth!
