J3L manufactures and develops high-end metal parts for the luxury leather goods industry. These parts are then assembled on accessories such as handbags, shoes, belts, etc. It is a demanding sector that does not tolerate defects or production anomalies.
It was in this context that J3L's quality management team wanted to guarantee the quality of each part, from the design phase to the end of the production line, at each of its four sites in France and Portugal. The Quality Manager therefore sought a reliable, automated solution to structure the problem-solving and root cause analysis process.
J3L then approached Axsens, which developed ProWhy, an innovative collaborative problem-solving tool, in partnership with ENIT (National Engineering School of Tarbes).
Maemouna Dia, an Axsens consultant specializing in ProWhy, took charge of J3L's request to assess the extent to which this tool could meet the company's specific needs.
"They particularly appreciated the fact that ProWhy became the living memory of problem solving throughout the company. The support we offer, from deployment to technical after-sales issues, was also essential," said Maemouna Dia.
After a diagnostic phase, Axsens' technical team configured and customized the ProWhy tool for J3L, then installed it on the group's server, and finally deployed it across all production sites.
Axsens then helped employees learn how to use the tool, training 23 employees working in the Quality and Methods departments, as well as in the Design Office and Production. This support phase highlighted the fact that problem solving was not necessarily applied by all departments, and that most of the problem solving was done mainly within the Quality department. This training phase therefore enabled everyone to refresh their knowledge of the tools and methods, so that each department could then use them.
During the rollout of the ProWhy tool in 2020, J3L was pleased to announce its acquisition by a leading luxury fashion brand. As its integration into the organization is underway, J3L expects its process to become a benchmark for the entire group.
Axsens is proud to have supported J3L in improving its problem-solving process and wishes it every success in this new chapter of its growth!
