Background :
FORD, in order to improve its industrialization process and better control its lead times, has launched a "Methods Technicians" training project.
Objectives :
Company :
- Optimizing the production process
Participant :
- Identify sources of productivity
- Optimize technical resources, reduce unproductive time, generate and enrich databases
- Adapt the workstation and its environment to the human being
- Evaluate times

Mission :
The Methods department in the company Workstation analysis (OCORDAC method) :
- Summary observation (ABC, instant obs., product analysis, process analysis, flow analysis, dynamic indicators, machine performance)
- Choice of workstation to be analyzed: ABC (classification of elements), Instantaneous observations (estimation of an activity rate)
- Detailed observation of the workstation: - Execution analysis - Sequence analysis - Simogram - Gesture and posture analysis - Workstation rating (organization, safety, ergonomics, relations)
- Reflection : QQOQCP, movement economy rules
- Decide: - Present possible improvement solutions - Draw up a financial balance sheet - Calculate depreciation (quantity-duration)
- Act: set up the new workstation (operating procedure)
- Monitor: analyze deviations and take corrective action
Measuring time :
- Measuring equipment (chrono, MTM1, MTM2, Most)
- Determination of elementary times (pace 100 BTE)
- Application of rest and hazard coefficients
Support techniques :
- 5S
- SMED
- Communication
- TOC: theory of constraints
- Line balancing
